The IUCN World Conservation Congress took place in Abu Dhabi between 9 and 15 October this year. The COMBO+ team participated in more than 8 collaborative sessions during the Congress and organized two sessions at the Pavillion France and the IUCN Business Pavillion. These sessions involved the Agence Française de Developpement, the Fondation pour les Aires Protégées et la Biodiversité de Madagascar (FAPBM) and Tany Meva, the Government of Madagascar and the project’s implementing partners -Wildlife Conservation Society, Biotope and BIOFUND – who all shared their insights after of 8 years of implementing the project. The sessions offered a platform to explain the rationale for the comprehensive approach taken by COMBO+ at the national level in each of the host countries, working on policy and institutions, data and technical tools, capacity building and testing implementation. They were also a chance to showcase key achievements over the past four years of implementing the project (see this short video), highlight collaboration with the IUCN CEM Thematic Group IMEC and discuss some of the lessons learnt from COMBO+ to date with a broad audience. Thank you to everyone who participated in our sessions, and to those who invited us to collaborate on their events!
